The West Coast Survey

The results of The 2024 New England Survey immediately raise the question of whether the risk profile applies only to the colleges and universities in the Northeast, or if it is a nationwide concern. And a preliminary review of a similar sampling of schools on the West Coast suggests the latter.

Data was gathered on 26 schools in California, Washington, and Oregon:

Art Center College of Design

Azusa Pacific University

Biola University

California College of the Arts

California Lutheran University

City University of Seattle

Claremont McKenna College

Concordia University-Irvine

Dominican University of California

Fresno Pacific University

George Fox University

La Sierra University

Lewis & Clark College

Linfield University

Mount Saint Mary's University

Northwest University

Occidental College

Otis College of Art and Design

Pacific Lutheran University

Pacific University

Pitzer College

Point Loma Nazarene University

Reed College

Saint Martin's University

Seattle Pacific University

Seattle University

They are somewhat smaller than the New England schools on average, perhaps as a reflection of the scope of the public system in California. But average size aside, their profile is similar to New England.

And the risks they face are even greater:
